Last night, my sister treated me and my mom to watch the musical play of The Sound of Music at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila. I love The Sound of Music! I remember watching the old film from Betamax. XD
We were so amazed with this timeless tale of love and surprisingly, mom knows all the song! This is our first time to watch with mom without her falling asleep at the middle of the show - take note: this play lasted for 3 hours. Haha! We were lucky to catch Joanna Ampil to play as Maria Rainer. The entire cast was truly enchanting. The heavenly voices of the nuns of Nonnberg Abbey are still playing in my head up to now. Maybe, it's the reason why I got a good sleep last night? I love the fascinating voices of the kids too. Alexa Villaroel was a little out of tune but she was just too charming in front of the audience. Everything is just spectacular!
The stage production was so grand - a jaw dropper. I mean, how were they able to put those gigantic props on stage? Plus, they have a large LED background screen at the back that is highly impressive. Two LED on the sides was a bright idea too, so that everyone can see the actors' facial expressions on play. The 20 piece orchestra playing on screen also made everyone entertained while changing scenes.
Wow wow wow. This is world class. Bravo! Oh, Im sure this is the best treat for your family and friends this Holiday season. Don't miss it!
