Judging for a beauty pageant for the first time. I am not exactly a pageant type, on any level. Though I love watching this kind of competition, I never had an experience joining such.
I was invited by a high school friend to be one of the judges for their annual fundraiser event Lantern Queen 2012. It is an annual benefit program for the charity ward patients of the UERM hospital as primary beneficiaries organized by the Phi Alpha Sigma Sorority. Of course, I accepted it!
I love doing charity works. I’ve once joined a trip to Sitio Mabilog, Bamban Tarlac to teach little Aetas, taught art to a blind/deaf/mute teenager, and pushed a kariton to teach with Efren Peñaflorida in Laguna. The feeling is extraordinary and very satisfying. I wish God will allow me to live long so I can do more charity works in the future. I’d love to share all these activities here in my blog.
Going back to the pageant, the show started with the candidates wearing their gorgeous wings, which is 5% of the criteria. I was surprised that some contestants had 7 feet tall wings. That was huge and heavy! But still, nothing beats the white feathery wings. Here are some of my favorites:

Spot me here trolololol. Me and Benjie Tiongco were guest judges that night.

Unfortunately, there was no swimsuit portion haha but I enjoyed watching the ladies in their night gowns. My favorite would be this one:

And lastly, the most anticipated segment of the beauty pageant is the Q&A portion. I love this part as this segment shows the ability of the candidates to think on their feet.

The former Lantern Queen took the stage for her final walk and message.

For the special awards, Ms. Photogenic was awarded to Alexis Yatco while the Voters’ Choice award went to Zyra Golez.

At the end of the night, Faith had captured the our attention and was crowned Lantern Queen 2012. She was certainly a crowd favorite, as dozens of her supporters waved “We have Faith” cards in the air!
