Fractional CO2 Laser Treatment

My face was a disaster and I started getting conscious to the point that I wanted to try laser treatments. My derma told me that the most effective way in treating my scars is Fractional CO2 Laser Treatment.

WARNING: NOT SO GOOD LOOKING PHOTOS BELOW

***Please take note that all this happened a year ago.***

**I lost the photos so I wasn’t able to document the procedure right away.**

*But I still want to share my experience with you and somehow exchange thoughts from those who had tried it already. *

It’s a non-surgical procedure used for scar revision (acne scars, deep scars on any part of the body), skin tightening and skin rejuvenation, treatment for melasma and freckles, also helps with fine lines and wrinkles, and improves stretch marks. It is a fractional resurfacing procedure done after applying cream anesthesia for an hour or so. Basically, (as how I understand the whole process) it would burn the 1st layer of your skin part by part by creating tiny dots so it would peel off evenly and get a new skin faster. It is somehow similar to chemical peeling but with CO2 Fraxel you’d get a lot better results after the first session.

It did not help me with active acne (I asked the nurse to avoid them). It was just to remove the scars and hopefully flatten the keloid scar on the sides of my nose. The actual treatment is not really painful (thanks to topical anaesthesia) but after a few hours you’d really feel the pain! I’ll rate it as 6/10 as if your skin was confused if it’s too hot or too cold but way better than my first IPL treatment. It was as if an iron was placed on my skin by mistake. So here’s a part of me from Day 1 to Day 7.

Day 1: PAINFUL. I felt like I shouldn’t do this again to myself.
Day 2: I got a lot of dots all over my face. A bit painful still. I still felt stupid.

Day 3-4: Itchy. Darker skin but no more pain. Pimples dried out.
Day 5: It started to flake particularly on my nose line, skin is dry.

Day 6-7: Still flaking but almost cleared

During my 2nd week my skin started to glow but I was not allowed to wear any makeup still. Pimple marks are pretty much diminished. It actually made a huge difference in my acne scarring on my first session so yeah, I’m willing to burn my skin for the 2nd time again maybe next month to fix uneven skin on my nose.

OKAY. I changed my mind.

Downtime: So for that whole week I was not allowed to put anything but a sunblock and Vitamin C serum. Yes, no makeup and I didn’t want to go out with that face anyway.
Downside: If you have an acne prone skin then it will just work like a temporary fix. It will help lighten the scars but when your next breakout comes in, you’ll probably have acne scars again. Unless, you have a huge scar for the longest time that you’d want remove or baku bako skin or you’ll promise not to prick and take care of your skin right after your Fractional CO2 Laser Treatment then I guess it’s all worth it.
They say that a person would need up to 5 treatments depending on how severe the acne scarring is. With that being said, it is an expensive procedure for me. It’s about P4,000 for every single time that you undergo this procedure but you can get a package price if you are willing to buy 5 sessions or more. Of course, it still depends on the clinic that you go to. 4k is just my estimate so if you are very serious into purchasing this treatment, ask your derma or your trusted clinic for the exact price.
Aside from that, I also purchased IPL hair removal for the whole body. It’s time consuming but I’d rather do this than use wax creams every now and then. I can sleep while the nurse is doing the procedure for me anyway. But please tell me – does IPL hair removal for the whole body have side effects??? I’m a little worried for the upper lip, chest and pelvic area.
I had to stop using my Mischka peeling lotion for a whole month (I love its whitening effect but yes, I had to stop for a while) and used Loccitane Shea Butter Soap followed by Watsons Protecting Cream Body Wash for bath time.
Going back to my face, I used Neutrogena Deep Clean Facial Cleanser. I was advised by my derma to use a mild cleanser but I like this one.
After washing my face, I applied an extra generous amount of Vitamin C Serum to remove dark spots and to let my skin heal after that horrifying Fractional CO2 Laser Treatment. Haha.
Then I used different face masks like theSAEM Pure Natural Snail Mask Sheet, Etude House I Need You Green Tea Mask Sheet and Tony Moly My Little Pet Eye Patch. Basically, all those mask sheets I purchased from Korea.
So that is pretty much what I did every single morning and night after the treatment. If you have tried this treatment before, please let me know your thoughts! Suko ako eh! XD

  1. Looking at it reminds me of my bestfriend when she's lying down for her monthly facial and she was holding my hand and pressing it whenever her pimple is being pricked. Gee! It was really painful because she cried. I can imagine the pain she's been through, and yes if you're an acne prone whatever you do it will be gone but not for long. She gave up and just accepted that her pimples/acne will keep on coming back. Is laser treatment painful as well? By the way as I was reading this I called my bestfriend and let her read this and she said "I'm okay with this pimples, I can no longer take the pain".. haha, ayaw nya rin, it looks painful daw. 🙂

    1. I felt like a CGI character with all my facial mocaps here XD

Pricking is always a no-no. I just opt for cortisone shots for unbearable breakouts. Laser treatment maybe painful on your sessions but as the hair goes thinner, you won't feel anything anymore.

  2. I've heard about this and some people actually try this to peel off their scars on their face. Takes about 3 sessions before you can see results but I agree, the pain is not worth it! Just use maxipeel or some micropeel toners

    1. Hahaha but if I will compare my face today from back then… I dont get much acne anymore.

    1. Skin Rejuve, Kamias. Have you tried this laser treatment?

Hello Jef, the attending nurse / derma would need to check your skin for the intervals but usually it’s every other week. Revlite package at Skin House starts at 6 sessions for P12,000. Very affordable! For reservations, you may call them at 898 7546.
