Globe Telecom’s Highest Assessment Rating

I just realized that I have been using the same contact number for 7 years. The Globe prepaid sim card was actually given to me by a close friend on my 18th birthday so they could contact me easily whenever we need to hang out or talk. It was an obligatory sim switch. Haha college days. Eventually, I have liked so many things about the network that changing sim never crossed my mind.

During college, I totally maximized their GCASH service for my online business, Sparkle Shop. Money transfer using GCASH was a breeze for me specially when they partnered with BPI mobile as I got to do transfers to and from my bank account by just using my phone. That way, I didn’t had to skip class and go to Globe centers then my bank just to deposit my savings.
In the middle of my relationship with Globe, I lost my phone unfortunately. There were a lot of things going through my mind while I rushed the nearest Globe center like my money in GCASH, my important contacts, my messages… Soon as I talked to a representative, they told me that I could block the lost sim and retrieve my number without submitting an affidavit and any other hassle. Minutes later, I got a new sim with the same contact number. Isn’t that cool?

It’s also amazing how their people could handle stressed/worried/angry/panicking customers lol. In the end, I also realized that nothing could be solved with an awful temper.

Years later, I have decided to get a good internet service for business expansion. I can see a lot of Twitter rants about poor internet connection from time to time but not for me as I got Globe Broadband. Now that I have a real business to take care of, connecting with my team and clients online is never a problem to me. I think I am also living in a good Globe internet spot as well so I rarely get disconnected. – unless these little ones check their list for the ‘Things to Unplug’.

“Watchu lookin’ at? We didn’t do anything…”

Recently, I have learned that Globe Telecom has yielded the highest assessment rating from their internal audit team, attesting to efforts by the telecommunications company to further improve its corporate governance. If I could still remember, the first time they got this rate was in April 2007. According to their Chief Audit Executive Carmina Herbosa, the rating given to the company confirms internal audit activities are actually conducted in conformity with the Institute of Internal Auditors’ International Standards.
“Globe Telecom is strongly committed in pursuing integrity, accountability and transparency in all aspects of the business and the external quality assessment is aimed at ensuring the company’s internal audit processes and procedures are in accordance with industry best practices,” Herbosa said.
The external quality assessment conducted by external assessor, Navarro Amper & Co. , a member of Deloitte Southeast Asia Ltd., is in step with efforts to improve the organization’s operations by ensuring the company’s approach to evaluate and improve risk management, control and corporate governance is effective, she said.
The external quality assessment involved a review of the internal audit work including reviews on company’s business, financial, network and IT infrastructure as well as internal audit’s participation to various transformation projects of Globe as an advisory body. This was particularly relevant in the recent implementation of the company’s network and IT modernization initiative, she said.
Based on standards, external assessments must be conducted at least once every five years. In June this year, Globe Telecom was recognized as one of Asia’s Outstanding Company on Corporate Governance by Corporate Governance Asia, a Hong Kong based magazine specializing in corporate governance issues in the region.
In December last year, the telecommunications provider also bested 247 other listed companies in the country to win the first ever Bell Award for Corporate Governance given by the Philippine Stock Exchange. The recognition follows a similar citation from Hong Kong publishing giant Finance Asia where Globe also garnered high marks in the Best Corporate Governance category.
I have more experiences to share about Globe such as their share-a-load (especially to mom!) and their points and rewards but I think I’ll just save it for some other time to keep this entry sweet and short. Soon, I’ll try to ask their customer service if I can still use the same number when I move to micro sim. I really hope that’s possible with Globe!
